Course Description

Are you ready to expand your network knowledge beyond small-scale networking? This class is for those who already have a good understanding of networking basics and want to learn more about switching, routing, management, and virtual networking. This course focuses on the concepts, equipment and protocols that are used in Layer 2 (data link), Layer 3, (network) and Layer 4 (transport), components of the OSI network framework. You will learn advanced techniques to manage and troubleshoot the infrastructure of wired or wireless networks.

Bruce Hartpence is a faculty member at the Golisano college of computing and information science at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. He teaches voice over IP, wireless communication, and network design. He also runs an industrial training program for networking. Bruce is the author Packet Guide to Voice over IP and Packet Guide to Core Network Protocols. He also wrote Packet Guide to Routing & Switching (all O'Reilly).
