Course Description

Organisational practice refers to the study of the company's culture and structures, and how they influence the behaviours and actions of its employees. This microcredential will teach you how to be a manager that can improve productivity and efficiency, empower your employees and make a positive impact on the wider environment.

This will be achieved by learning to adapt to change and exploring different organizational structures. It will be possible to identify the current drivers of change and to adapt positively to them in an inclusive and ethical manner that promotes diversity and inclusion.

You will be focusing on the areas that are most relevant to your work each week, based on your previous or current experience in organisational practice.

You'll be able to learn and experiment with the most current organisational models, frameworks and theories using the academic research in this field.

This will give you a solid understanding of the different types of organisational structures as well as how they change over time.

You'll learn how to lead different styles of leadership and develop your managerial skills.

The role of power and politics in an organization will be discussed and you'll learn how to manage it for your personal development and the benefit of the people around you. The course will focus on improving your learning approach and how it affects culture and progress.

Additionally, you will learn a variety of personal study skills that can be used to improve your critical thinking.

Learners based in Northern Ireland may be eligible for fully-funded places. Applications for funding places close at 1 October 2021. We recommend that you apply for funded places as soon as possible as there are limited spots. More information: https://www.open.ac.uk/courses/choose/skill-up
