Course Description

This course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to Density Functional Theory. DFT, the most popular method for studying interacting electrons today, can be applied to atoms and solid systems as well as nuclei and quantum fluids. This course will introduce you to the fundamental concepts and foundations of DFT. Particular attention will be given to the reasons DFT has become the most popular method of simulating quantum mechanical system.

This course is for researchers and students with basic knowledge in quantum mechanics. It is not necessary to have any experience with simulations or solid-state Physics. When particular concepts are required, we try to provide a brief mathematical background.
