Ethics, Technology and Engineering

This course on ethics in engineering and technology aims to help engineers develop the necessary moral competences outlined by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The course covers various aspects of ethics, including moral sensibility, moral analysis skills, moral creativity, moral judgment skills, and moral decision-making abilities. By focusing on the specific moral issues that engineers face in their work, the course provides concrete examples to illustrate how the decision to create technology and the design and production process are inherently moral. Learners will be presented with different arguments for and against specific actions, encouraging them to become more aware of the moral aspects of technology and develop their argumentative skills for discussions with stakeholders such as governments, users, and commercial businesses departments.
