Course Description

This 10-week course will teach you about sustainable development's history, values, and the importance of it in fashion.

Modern business and society have made sustainability a major concern. According to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, business and government must work together to make 2030 a more sustainable year.

Increased awareness about the environmental damage done by fast fashion and the climate crisis in general fashion has led to luxury goods brands to embrace sustainability.

You'll be able to learn from Kering and Institut Français de la Mode, fashion leaders.

To better inform your approach to sustainable fashion, you'll learn about the current environmental situation.

We'll be looking at key areas like animal welfare and biodiversity and how they relate to wider social issues such human rights and inclusion. You will leave with the ability to identify practical ways fashion can be more socially responsible.

This course will help you think about the value chain and make it easier to see how sustainability can be applied to every stage of the fashion product's lifecycle.

Learn the principles of ecodesign and which materials are most conducive to sustainability. Also, learn what responsible and sustainable retailing looks and feels like.

Fashion industry thrives on creativity and innovation. There's no reason to sacrifice sustainability.

Discover the future of sustainable fashion and how you can harness cutting-edge technology to drive positive change in your company.

Institut Français de la Mode is a school of fashion design and management located in Paris, the fashion capital of the globe. It has been a leader for more than 30 years.

Andrée-Anne Lemieux is the course's leader. She is a Sustainability Professor and a change leader at the forefront of the industry’s transformation. Andrée-Anne Lemieux is a fashion industry veteran with over 15 years' experience and specializes in sustainability transformation for high-street designers and multinational corporations.

She is also the Sustainability IFM-Kering chair and manages scientific research in sustainability in fashion and luxury. In addition to hearing from designers and manufacturers about their experiences with sustainability implementation, you will also get insights from fashion industry stakeholders such as NGOs and startups.

You'll be ready to lead the industry's transformation.
