Course Description

Do you want to learn how food can be used for medicine? This 3-week course will help you understand nutrition and how it can improve your health.

We will discuss how food can help you manage certain chronic diseases, both preventative and chronic.

You'll start by learning about the different types of food and their unique qualities. You'll learn how each element affects your overall health, from macronutrients and micrnutrients to antioxidants.

We will explore the history of food as medicine and how it can be used to prevent and treat disease. We'll also discuss how food can be used as medicine in the future.

Your second week will be spent exploring the relationships between food, the brain, the stomach, the appetite, and genes. Additionally, you will learn how food influences fertility and pregnancy.

Examples of food as medicine will be shown, such as the FODMAP diet to treat IBS and probiotics to improve your gut health. Learn how your body regulates your appetite and what food addiction is.

We'll also discuss nutrition science's complexity, its evolution, and the dangers of misinformation. Next, you will learn how mindfulness can be applied to your relationship with food.

We are excited about the future of food. So we will explore how food could be used as medicine in future and what role food might play in your overall health and well-being.
