Course Description

This four-week course on global studies explores why certain events have a greater impact on global affairs than others. It delves into the assessment of threats to foreign policy and foreign affairs. The course aims to provide insights from geography, demography, and anthropology to enable informed predictions of international relations.

The course acknowledges that despite periods of relative stability, challenges in politics and international relations persist. It covers topics such as communication issues, political instability, social uprisings, and the reasons behind people rebelling. It also examines the power imbalances between states and people.

The need for new methods to address environmental, cultural, and military pressures is emphasized due to the increasing pace of global change. The course evaluates various risks and offers solutions to sustainability issues like deforestation and water depletion. Additionally, it explores the effects of technology on warfare and questions whether these changes will ever end the war.

The course is offered by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Europe's largest network organization in the field of management development.
