This is my confession: Git was a long-running program that I didn't really understand. Although I was familiar with the basics of Git, I got lost when something didn't work. What caused my rebase to fail? How did I mess up my remote? The key to Git was the content of the directory.git. Everything about Git fell into place once I understood its underlying model.
