Course Description

This course will help you expand your jazz piano repertoire as well as improve your improvisation skills. This final course will combine all you have learned so far and give you cool new skills. The course will introduce you to four advanced blues techniques and the conventions of playing ballads. Latin jazz, AfroCuban influences, Brazilian influences, and bossa Novas will all be covered. Then, you'll dive into jazz influences, often called crossovers, such as jazz funk and third steam, indo jazz, free jazz, improvised jazz, and free jazz. The fourth route to jazz improvisation will be explained, along with ways to support soloists, also known as comping. These new tools can be applied to Beautiful Love or My Romance.

You'll be able to use this course to develop your musical skills and a range of techniques and influences. Learn about pianistic and non-pianistic influences and how to practice. You will also learn tips on how to transcribe, compose and form a group to get gigs. To inspire you, the course ends with two concert programs: a solo concert and one from My Piano Trio.
