Course Description

Mobile manipulation is the capstone project in the Modern Robotics specialization. This involves controlling both the motion of a mobile base with its robot arm and the movement of a wheeled mobile platform to perform a task. This project integrates many topics from the specialization such as trajectory planning, feedback control, and odometry mobile robots. You will use the Modern Robotics library (written in Python and Mathematica), as well as software that you have previously written, to develop software to control and plan the movement of a mobile manipulator for a pick-and-place task. Your software will be tested on the KUKA youBot mobile manipulator, which includes a 5-joint robot arms, an omnidirectional mecanum wheel mobile base, and a gripper. To simulate the task, you will use the state-of-the art, cross-platform VREP robot simulator.
