Course Description

Remote Sensing Image Acquisition Analysis and Applications is where we will explore the possibilities of imaging the earth's surface using space- or airborne aircraft.

This course covers both the basic nature of remote sensing as well as the types and platforms used. The course also covers the most recent deep learning algorithms used in image understanding. It includes both the oldest and most important methods. The course assumes no prior knowledge in remote sensing, but provides a deep understanding comparable to an undergraduate course on image analysis and remote sensing. This requires knowledge of statistics and vector and matrix algebra. Recognizing that not everyone will have the same background, summaries and examples of hand-work are provided to help illustrate. You will find plenty of examples and commentary about how technology is used in real life. Participants will be able to apply the knowledge in their own fields and conduct more in-depth research on remote sensing and related topics.
