Course Description

Learn how to model economic and social networks and their effect on human behavior. What is the structure of networks? How does it form? These questions will be answered using models and techniques drawn from sociology, economics, math, statistics, computer science, and math.

This course will provide an introduction to the empirical basis of economic and social networks and a review of the concepts used for measuring and describing them. We will then cover a variety of models that describe how networks form, including strategic formation models and random network models. Next, we will discuss several models that show how networks affect behavior including learning, contagion and diffusion.
