Course Description

This course will teach you how to analyze text data and find interesting patterns. It will also help you make informed decisions. The emphasis is on statistical methods that can be applied to any text data, in any language, without any or minimal human effort.

Understanding natural language text is a prerequisite for detailed analysis of text data. This task can be difficult for computers. There are many statistical methods that can be used to analyze text data in a shallow but reliable way for pattern discovery and knowledge discovery. This course will teach you the fundamental concepts, principles and major algorithms of text mining, as well as their potential applications.
