Welcoming to the City and you: Discover Your Best Place. Welcome to The City and You: Find Your Best Place. I am excited to welcome you to my class. You will be able to develop your critical thinking skills. This will be done by demonstrating the value of cities and explaining why they are important to us. Next, we ask you to use what you've learned and apply it in an exercise that will allow you to assess your community and determine your most valuable place.
Anyone who wants to learn more about cities, and how they impact our lives is welcome to take this course. The course is divided into five modules: (1) Why Cities Matter (2) A World of Cities (3) The Creative City (4) The Divided City (5) The New Urban Crisis (6) How to Find The Best Place For You (7)
You will have the ability to:
(1) Recognize why economic success is driven by cities
(2) Describe the causes and consequences of urbanization's rapid growth worldwide.
(3) Describe the characteristics that make a city creative and innovating.
(4) Discuss the challenges and social divisions facing cities, and what solutions they are finding to them.
(5) Consider the pros and cons of moving or staying in the same city, then find the right place to call home for your family.
Since I created this course, the world has certainly changed tremendously. Global COVID-19 Pandemic has ravaged cities and businesses around the globe. This is something that I've been writing about, and have worked with city managers, economists, leaders in urban communities, and mayors around the world. To help you understand how the Coronavirus is affecting cities, and to show you how you can deal with it best, I created a module called Cities and Coronavirus.
