Course Description

The following is an overview of contemporary history, from a global perspective. Part One covers the revolutions in politics and economy that took place between the late 1800s and the early 1900s. It then tracks the changes occurring around the globe during the 18th century. These bewildering and unprecedented changes appear to have outpaced the ability of institutions older than them to manage. Part 1 concludes. We will try to understand what's happening, and then ask why. The answers are often based on human decisions.
