Access to food is vital for our society. Nearly 800 million people live in poverty, while over 650 millions are overweight. Many people living in poor countries face food insecurity, while those in developed countries are starving. However, people in the industrialized world throw away more food than they need.
More than 10 Utrecht University food scientists will be addressing the major issues in food consumption. Two interrelated topics will be addressed: Food scarcity and healthy choices. Learn how to recognize the main ingredients that are causing the global food shortage and what you can do to make the system more sustainable.
Also, we will be looking at sustainable options for many acut problems: The demands of the increasing human population, nutrition and understanding food choices to make healthier eating and explore the possibility of other foods.
