Course Description

This course will focus on how analysts can quantify and explain the confidence they have when interpreting their findings. This course starts with an overview of key probability rules and concepts that guide the calculation of uncertainty measures. These ideas will then be applied to variables, which are the basic building blocks of statistics and their associated probability distributions. The second part of the course will focus on the interpretation and computation of uncertainty. We will discuss how to perform a hypothesis test using test statistics as well as confidence intervals. We'll also discuss the role of hypothesis testing within a regression context. This includes what we can learn from the statistical significance a coefficient. You should be able, by the end of this course to discuss statistical findings in probabilistic terms as well as interpret the uncertainty associated with a particular estimate.
