Course Description

Flat, painterly textures were used for many years to overcome technical limitations in videogames. But with a little care and the right techniques, they can take on a unique, valid look all their own. This course, Creating Hand Painted Textures with Substance Painter, will teach you how to create something beautiful and convincing while only relying on the base color map. You'll first learn how to create metal effects that look realistic without having to rely on reflections. Next, you will learn how to paint realistic weather and grime. You'll also learn how to create organic surfaces such as stylized fruit and wood. You will be able to create beautiful textures using only one brush and an understanding of the concepts by the end of this course. Substance Painter 2.5 is required.
