Course Description

This course is designed to teach technical artists how to seamlessly integrate Flash with Maya when creating 3D assets or animations for the internet. With over 2.5 hours of project-based training, participants will learn various techniques for exporting, rendering, and publishing data. The course highlights include a review of both the Flash and Maya applications, creating 3D turntables, working with ActionScript 1.0/3.0, and utilizing the Maya vector renderer. Participants will also learn about working with fills and edges, shadows, reflections, and highlights. Additionally, the course covers alternate edge workflow, using Papervision 3D, exporting Collada files for Papervision 3D, updating builds with SVN, and coding 3D actions.

To fully benefit from this course, participants should have a working knowledge of Flash CS3 and Maya 2008 or higher. They will also need to install the ColladaMaya plugin and PaperVision3D, both of which are free.
