Course Description

The University of Colorado Denver presents this course in partnership with Vanderbilt Genetics Institute, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the International Genetic Epidemiology Society. This course is intended to give students the knowledge and background necessary for statistical analysis of data from genetic association studies. The course contains multiple lectures on and assessments of each topic. These include Dr. Nancy Cox's history of genetics research, Dr. Bruce Weir's foundational concepts of population genetics, Dr. Todd Edwards' presentation of population structure in genetic associations studies, Dr. Goncalo Absecasis's presentation of quality control in genetic studies, Dr. Celia Greenwood's analysis of association-based population studies, as well as Dr. Joan Bailey Wilson-Wilson's analysis of family-based study analysis. This course contains six modules that provide examples of concepts as well as reference literature.
