Course Description

You've already taken my waterbrush lettering or calligraphy classes and are now practicing. What's next?! To maximize your digital lettering skills and open up creative doors and opportunities, learn how to digitize it!

Perhaps your goal is to have your calligraphy printed on notebooks, phone cases, or bedding. You might want to create your own greeting cards and art prints that you can make a side income by selling.

Whatever your goal, I will guide you step-by-step through the digitizing process using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Who's this class for?

Anyone who is interested in digitizing their calligraphy letters and exploring all the possibilities that digitizing has to offer will benefit greatly from this class. While you don't need to be an expert in Photoshop or Illustrator, it is helpful to have a basic understanding of navigation in these programs, such as where to find your tools, etc. If you don't have the time or desire to digitize quickly and easily, I will guide you through each step.

I will share my thoughts on how I decide which method is best for you and how to achieve the highest quality finish. These decisions are made before I begin digitizing.

You will need to have your calligraphy project ready, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop installed on your computer. A scanner, your phone, or a camera can help you capture digital images of your lettering. Then, we will create a digital file and a notebook for you to take notes. This is something I do with every class I take. It allows me to quickly refer to the information and write down the steps. Not only will it help you remember what you should do, but it also helps you remember what you need to do when you're just starting out. That's it!
