Technology and network impact on society, culture and daily life continues to grow. This course can be taken from any location in the world, thanks to a technology infrastructure built and designed over sixty years. Understanding the technology behind network technology is essential to function in an information-centric society. The course will provide an overview of the Internet, including how it came to be and who made it. We will also meet some of the pioneers behind the Internet and the Web technologies we all use. You will no longer take the Internet or Web as a given after this course. This course will give you a better understanding of the most pressing technological issues facing our society. The Internet and the Web can be a place for innovation. You'll also gain a greater understanding of where you fit in that process. This course is an excellent introduction to a Web design or programming course. You will become a better network citizen at a minimum.
