Course Description

This course will teach you how to use motion capture data to drive your characters. This course will teach you how to convert motion capture data into a format MotionBuilder can understand. Then, use that mocap data quickly to create animated characters that look real. This series of lessons will teach you how to import and edit motion capture data within MotionBuilder. This project will begin by creating a single clip from motion capture and placing it on a character with the Story Window. Next, we'll extend this project to use multiple clips on the same person and how we can seamlessly blend the clips using the Ghosting, Blending and Matching features of the Story Window. The mocap data will be mapped to keyframes and edited in the fcurve window. We'll also learn how to format external BVH BVH mocap data for MotionBuilder. MotionBuilder 2009 or higher is required.

Skills You Will Gain

What You Will Learn

Finally, we'll learn how to format external BVH mocap data to work with MotionBuilder

In this series of lessons we'll learn how import motion capture data and edit it inside of MotionBuilder

Learn the basics of using motion capture data to drive our characters

Software required MotionBuilder 2009 and up

Then, we will extend this to using multiple clips on the same character and how we can create a seamless blend between the two clips using the ghosting, blending, and matching features of the Story window

We will be able to take motion capture source and convert it into a format that MotionBuilder natively understands and then use that mocap data to create new and life-like animations quickly and easily

We will then take the mocap data and plot it down to keyframes so we can edit it in the f-curve window

We'll begin this project by taking a single motion capture clip and putting it onto a character using the Story Window
