Course Description

This course is designed to introduce quantum information at a graduate level. This course focuses on fundamental understanding how quantum systems process information and how quantum properties relate to communication and computing tasks. The course starts by explaining quantum theory as the framework for information processing. Quantum systems can be introduced with either single or two qubits. The preparation, evolution and reading out of qubits are the key to understanding quantum theory's axioms. Quantum computing is explained. Entanglement is identified to be a key resource for quantum information processing. Quantification and manipulation of entangled state are possible.
