About This Video

  • How to install and configure an OpenShift Cluster using different options
  • Understanding Platform as a Service and the benefits of building one with containers

This course will take the participant on a journey to learn how to install and configure OpenShift clusters using different options. This course will teach you about Platform as a service and the benefits of using containers to build one. Docker allows you to run isolated processes. It also allows you package an application along with its run-time environment using primitives like dockerfiles. A COE (Container Operation Engine) is required to run Docker in a production environment with multiple container workloads. COEs allow you to cluster and turn your nodes into one supercomputer. They also make intelligent decisions about where to schedule containers. They can connect containers running on different hosts by setting up multi-host networks. Other interesting features include fault tolerance, zero downtime deployments and many more. OpenShift simplifies Kubernetes deployment. It abstracts away the complexity and provides a simple, unified interface. OpenShift also offers a complete Platform as a Service offering, packaging Kubernetes Container Registry, Container Runtime and build and pipelines tools such as Jenkins. It also provides best practices and integration straight out of the box. OpenShift can simply point to your application code and it will build and deploy it, taking care of high availability and fault tolerance, scalability and self-healing.
