Writing for Slice of Life Comics - Making the Day-today Funny
This class is for comic creators who want to add humor to their comics. It's also for comic fans who don't want to make comics but still want to be able to tell their stories in a more humorous way.
This class will create a script for a 4-panel comic based on something that happened in your life.
We'll discuss what a Slice of Life Comic looks like, and the easiest ways to capture story ideas from your day.
*- You will need something that you can write on and bring with you, whether it is a notebook or a smartphone app.
We'll discuss the most important Story elements in Slice of Life Comics and review my Rules of Comedy to help you find the right techniques to make your Story funny.
We'll then discuss how to condense your funny story into four panels.
I'll be there every step of your way, doing my class project and letting everyone in on my thoughts for turning ideas from my life into funny 4 Panel Comics.
The project steps correspond with the lessons. You can either follow along as we go or watch the entire class to get a better understanding. After that, you can create your project while you watch the videos again.
It is encouraged that you post each step to your class project to document your progress and give more examples to your classmates.
