Description

Controlled by computers (CNC) Machinists are accountable for operating machines to produce metallic parts. They design and build industrial machinery and supervise the operation of it. CNC Machinists need to be able to read and interpret blueprints to design specific pieces and adjust equipment in accordance with the specifications of the product. They must also adhere to strict safety and security requirements of the industry and company rules, and an extremely controlled sequence of tasks.

CNC machinists should be capable of communicating effectively with supervisors and other machinists and also regularly attend training sessions to receive information on the use of equipment. They should be able to independent and operate under minimal supervision, and they should be able to identify and rectify errors in the program promptly. CNC Machinists should be familiar with calibrating calipers and micrometers.

CNC Machinists typically work in a plant for production. Their primary tools comprise industrial tools like wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers to maintain and repairing machine equipment. They communicate their progress to the supervisor of production in their department.

This job requires a high school diploma at the minimum. Additionally having experience from an identical production setting could be beneficial. Additionally, CNC machinists must lift up to 30 pounds on a daily basis, and they must adhere to strict standard rules, which include steel-toe shoes, as well as safety glasses. CNC machinists are often required to sit for a long period of time during the course of their primary job duties.
