Course Description

Modern medicine is founded on evidence. This evidence is provided by clinical research, which guides health professionals to find solutions for problems they encounter in their daily practices. It is difficult to transfer existing medical problems into a research environment. This requires thoughtful consideration. Clinical epidemiology is a practice that aims at addressing these problems through research in humans. It also focuses on clinical issues from the perspective of medical professionals. This course will cover the principles and practice for clinical epidemiology. The course will teach medical researchers how to turn real clinical problems into research questions that can be investigated. It also provides insight into the key considerations for designing epidemiological studies.

The core concepts of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment will all be presented along with four themes. This course is designed to help students understand the topic through peer interaction, lectures by experts and assignments.
