Duration: 30 minutes

Introduction

What is Internet Information Services (IIS), and how can it help you?

Internet Information Services (IIS), a flexible and general-purpose web server developed by Microsoft, runs on Windows.

Internet Information Services is the name of a web server that can be used for general purposes and runs on Windows. The IIS responds to client's computer queries and allows them to share and transmit information across the LAN or Local Area Network, such as a corporate intranet, and the WAN (or Wide Area Network), the internet.

IIS's open and scalable architecture can handle even the most difficult tasks, including media streaming and web applications.

Internet Information Services (IIS), turns a computer into a Webserver that can offer World Wide Web publishing, File Transfer Protocol services (FTP), Simple Mail Transport Protocol services (SMTP), and Network News Transfer Protocol services (NNTP).

Once you have an IP address and registered your domain on a DNS server and configured your network, IIS can be used to host and manage websites and other Internet content.
