Course Description

This 5-day lab-intensive course introduces students to basic security concepts such as next-generation intrusion prevention systems (NGIPS) or next-generation firewalls (NGFW). You will then be guided through the Cisco Firepower system. You will also learn about:

  • Configuration for Firepower Threat Defense
  • Event analysis in depth
  • Configuration and tuning of NGIPS

You will also learn about the latest features of the platform: file and malware inspections, security intelligence and domain awareness.

The course introduces the system architecture and the most recent features. It also discusses the role of policies in the implementation of the solution. Learn how to deploy, manage and troubleshoot Cisco Firepower Threat Defense devices. Learn how to configure Threat Defense technology including application control, security information, NGFW, NGIPS and network-based malware. You will also learn how to use powerful tools that allow you to perform better event analysis. This includes the detection of file types as well as network-based malware. You will also learn how to tune systems for greater performance and network intelligence. The course ends with tasks for system and user administration and troubleshooting threats to the Defense system. This course includes both lecture material and hands-on labs. You will be able to deploy and manage the Cisco Firepower system.
