Senior managing directors must have a strong drive to succeed to grow new and existing broking productions, as well as assist in developing sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue. These directors may develop plans to identify targeted prospects and existing clients and collaborate with other teams to build new clients and targets, and leadership skills are important in this position to understand clients' needs and develop cost-effective solutions. They must also maintain a thorough understanding of all resources and solutions available to meet clients' needs.Ten to fifteen years of broking and or or commercial underwriting experience with a focus on property insurance are generally required for this position, and interpersonal skills are highly beneficial for working well with clients and maintaining strong relationships. Communication and multitasking skills are also important. Senior managing directors must have a positive demeanor and attitude, and some travel may be necessary in this position depending on the employer.
