Sales and service consultants are responsible for increasing sales and providing superior customer service to clients for their organization. They are in charge of providing customers all pertinent information on products or services being offered, closing sales, helping increase brand loyalty and customer satisfaction, and responding to client inquiries and complaints in a satisfactory manner. They use a personal computer to keep an accurate records of customer interaction for future reference. In addition, they educate customers on features and benefits of all the company offerings, as well as resolve billing discrepancies, service disruptions, and general service inquiries. Sales and service consultants also escalate issues as necessary to the correct company department. Generally, these consultants report their progress to the sales and service supervisor in their department.A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Previous experience in a sales and service capacity is often required or preferred as well. Industry related certifications may be beneficial. Sales and service consultants must have excellent interpersonal skills to develop strong business relationships, have strong organizational skills, and have excellent problem-solving skills to develop satisfactory solutions to customer inquiries. They must be able work with other consultants in a team environment to reach all company objectives in a timely manner, as well as perform well by themselves with minimal supervision.
