Course Description

In clinical practice and basic research, neuroimaging is being used more frequently. This course is for professionals and students alike. It will cover the basics of neuroimaging methods applied to human subjects research. It will also introduce neuroscience concepts and terminology that are necessary for basic understanding of neuroimaging application. The course will cover the history of neuroimaging and an introduction to image formation and neuroimaging physics. It also includes an overview of various neuroimaging applications including perfusion imaging, functional MRI, DTI, magnetic resonance spectroscopy and perfusion imaging. Each method, source of signal and goals will be discussed. This course will cover basic neuroscience concepts that are necessary for understanding the application of neuroimaging techniques, such as structural and functional human neuroanatomy and cognitive domains.
