Course Description

Class Description

You know the feeling you get when you are texting a friend and realize that you need something more to emphasize your point. After you have finished typing, you open the app search, type the word fabulous, scroll down to find the perfect animated GIF, and hit send. You have made your point! This is something you do a lot on Facebook, Instagram stories, and reels. GIFs are now a regular part of our daily lives. GIFs have allowed people to be more playful and creative, from regular folks to creatives to marketers.

As a designer and illustrator, I enjoy creating my own GIFs. Clip studio paint and procreate allow you to go beyond basic illustration and design and create 2D animations. This month, we will be doing exactly that! Clip Studio Paint allows us to create our own 90s-inspired GIFs!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my first class! Welcome back if you are returning student! Jen, my name is Jen and I'll be your guide through this creative course. I am a freelance graphic designer, illustrator, and educator based in the midwest. I also run Bella + Sophia Creative Studio. If you want to learn more about me, you can visit me online at: www.bellasophiacreative.com and you can check out my youtube channel: The Creative Studio. You will see my creative work as an educator and freelancer, as well as access a vast library of free tutorials related to art, design, and illustration. I believe in sharing knowledge in accessible ways. I have found that online courses and places such as Youtube are great places to do this. They allow me to connect with a wide range of people who are looking to learn and grow.

What is the class about

This month, I'm back with another creative course. We will be focusing this time on the fabulous, fun and quirky GIF. We will work together to create a series of animated GIFs that are simple and fun using our own illustrations from the 90s. These GIFs can then be uploaded to GIPHY, the popular GIF site.

These are some of the skills students will learn

You will learn the basics of animation using your illustrations. Next, we will walk through Clip Studio Paint as we prepare to animate with the software. As you create your animated illustrations flip book style, I will show you how you can use the tools, layers, and how to set your timeline.

The Class Project, and the Tools Required

These are the tools you'll need to complete this class:

A computer with Clip studio paint, a tablet for illustrating and a stylus. I am currently using a Huion tablet. These tools make it a lot easier to illustrate.

TOOLS:

Clip Studio Paint

Tablet (Huion).
