Animations that have more convincing movement can be created while still retaining a lot of personality.
Although animators have some creative freedom to create animations that look different from reality, viewers will notice that your movement is not grounded in reality. Although physics may not sound very creative, it is essential to understand the basics of physics in order to create convincing movement. This hour-long class, recorded using Zoom and featuring participation by the Skillshare community, will show you how to make animations feel more real.
Jake will show you how an animation looks when the movement is off. Next, Jake will show you how to fix the problem using After Effects. You'll then work with Jake to animated three objects of different weights that fall to the ground. This will help you understand how to adjust their movement. Students who attended the live session could ask Jake questions so you can dig deeper into his animation process.
This is a key principle that animators of all levels need to understand. You can still learn something even if your not working in After Effects. If you want to learn After Effects and follow along, a basic understanding will be helpful. Jake's class on Animating With Ease in After Effects can help you get started.
We couldn't answer every question during the session but we would love to hear from our students. Please use the class discussion board to ask questions and get feedback.
