Course Description

To promote meaningful public policy changes, measure income inequality and wealth

Global living standards have increased over the past 250 years but this has been accompanied with unprecedented economic inequalities. While a few countries have reached financial independence, the majority of people live in poverty.

Collecting, examining, and understanding data related to economic and income inequality are the first steps to combating income and economic inequality. Only then can governments make changes in public policy.

This four-week course by University College London (UCL), gives you the foundations to start addressing these global issues.

Effective data analysis can lead to real change

The right metrics and careful data analysis are key to measuring inequality. You will learn the skills necessary to evaluate income and wealth inequality data.

To combat inequality, explore specific changes in public policy

You'll also find background readings that explain what economic inequality is in today's societies, how it has changed over the years, and how governments can address it.

These insights, along with your data-handling skills and statistical skills, will give you the confidence to take part in debates about inequality and how policies can be changed.
