Medical Neuroscience focuses on the neurobiological basis for human behavior and the neurophysiology that governs it. This course will help you understand the structure of neural systems within the brain and spine that control sensation and motivate bodily actions. It also integrates sensorimotor signals and cognition with emotion, memory and other faculties. This course aims to give you the knowledge necessary for understanding how injury, disease, or malfunction in the central nervous systems can affect sensation, action, and cognition. As the course builds upon previous knowledge of cell and molecular biology and general anatomy, it focuses mainly on the central nervous systems. There are certain topics, such as biological psychiatry, and many learning experiences, like hands-on brain dissection, that aren't available online. However, we aim to present in the best possible way a course of medical school quality.
The course consists of six modules, divided into twelve weeks. A final week is required for the comprehensive exam.
