Course Description

This series of After Effects tutorials will explain the causes of photorealistic lens, aperture, film, or sensor effects. They are real-life images being captured. We will be able to recreate this look in After Effects as we learn about the mechanisms behind each phenomenon. The camera's light source is the lens. We then follow the light through the lens to the heart of it, which is where the sensor, or sometimes the film, lives. This course explains the "why" of complex light physics and how it can cause bokeh and lens flares. Then, we will use a practical approach to make those effects look real rather than adding lens flares to everything and making it look amateurish. If you are looking for a course that teaches you how to transform a CG shot into something that looks real, this course is for you. This tutorial will teach you how to use After Effects to create the same effects. You can drop any footage from the bottom of the nested comps to have a photo-realistic distortion visible when you return to the main level. After Effects CS6, Knoll Light Factory 2.7.2 are required.
