Speaking to Inspire: Ceremonial and Motivational Speeches

Most memorable speeches are inspiring, entertaining, and uplifting. Great speeches combine stories and eloquence to highlight the core values that motivate an audience. This could be done in a keynote speech, a eulogy or simply in a business meeting. It is not easy to inspire audiences. A speech should be uplifting both the topic and the audience.

This course will teach you how to prepare and deliver speeches that inspire and entertain. You will be able, by the end of the course, to create and deliver powerful speeches that highlight core values. This can be done through storytelling, evidence, and humor. Writing eloquent passages should be written in a tone appropriate for the occasion. You should also be able speak fluently from either a prepared manuscript or from memory. Students will record speeches and receive peer feedback.
