Course Description

This class will take the student through a simplified, close reading of a sonnet by Charlotte Smith, a Romantic poet. Although Ms. Smith is not as well-known as the Romantic poets Wordsworth and Byron, or Keats, she was a very prominent woman in her own time, and is credited with repopularizing the sonnet format.
This guided close-reading is intended to simplify the process of poetry analysis by slowing down and using everyday language in order to examine the poem.
