A bridge between the ancient and modern, Tsinghua University was established in 1911 on the site where the imperial gardens of the Qing Dynasty once lay, holding historical and cultural significance. US News also ranked it 28 worldwide, and 1 in ‘Best Global Universities in Asia and China. Tsinghua scores high in academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio and citations per faculty.
A highly competitive university, the acceptance rate for Bachelors is less than 2%. However, the quality of education produces world leaders. Some notable alumni are Xi Jinping, Yang Chen-Ning (Physicist) and Shiing-Shen Chern (Mathematician).
