A legal administrator works in a law office to help all operations run smoothly, and this job has a variety of duties and requires significant multitasking. Team work is important in this position, but many of the tasks are done independently and require a self-driven individual. The legal administrator may be in charge of accounting duties at the firm, such as forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis. Other general duties include keeping track of expenditures, carrying out billing and collections, and reporting taxes. Computer, typing, and ten key are important skills to have, as well.Usually, a Bachelor’s degree in a field such as Business Administration or Finance is necessary for this position. This job may also involve supervising a team, so duties such as hiring/carrying out evaluations and discipline may be necessary. The administrator may also carry out HR-related duties for current employees, such as wage allocation and benefits administration.Overseeing the IT aspects of the law office is another important duty of a legal administrator.
