Assistant product managers work with the product manager to handle specific products within the organization. The main objective of an assistant product manager is to perform customer research, define customer problems, identify market opportunities, and complete market research activities. Assistant product managers may participate in the creation of product budgets and prepare budget documents for review by the product management team. Assistant product managers also develop and monitor key product metrics and perform quality and cost control reviews based on these metrics. Additionally, assistant product managers work with purchasing and supply chain representatives to ensure that products are profitable and cost effective.Assistant product managers work with a wide variety of professionals, such as engineers, project managers, and purchasing and supply chain agents; they may also work directly with external clients.
