Channel account managers are responsible for maintaining strong relationships with clients for various businesses. Generally, these account managers must arrange situations which allow for colleagues within their businesses to meet and converse for the greater good of the company; be it selling a product or brainstorming ways to increase revenue, the channel account manager is responsible for overseeing this creation.These managers will present a company’s product to a range of business professionals, sometimes from the same sector of business and other times another field entirely, and securing new partners for their business is also an important responsibility. A four-year degree and at least a few years of business sales experience are generally required for this position, and computer skills are also required. Travel is often necessary, so candidates should be prepared to be away home for designated periods of time.Channel account managers must be outgoing and personable in order to work well with sales representatives and report to their own vice presidents on a regular basis. Communication skills are highly recommended, as well.
