Data entry supervisors are responsible for leading and supervising data entry clerks/operators who enter information from source documents into the company's computer systems. Computer skills and knowledge of various automated systems, such as NFT and CIS formatted input screens, are necessary for this position.A college degree in business, information technology (IT), or a related field may be required by some employers, while others require only a high school diploma and/or relevant prior experience. Prior supervisory or leadership experience is also required for most data entry supervisors. These supervisors must provide feedback to their employees and conduct performance evaluation reviews in a timely manner, and they must also maintain all production goals and quality-level standards established by the company. They must ensure that all employees working underneath them follow the company's performance and safety guidelines, and together with the human resources (HR) department they may be involved in firing, hiring, and interviewing data entry clerks or operators.Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are important in this position to train and oversee data entry clerks/operators, and flexibility is also beneficial to work on rotating shifts. Some may also be required to attend ongoing education and other relevant training classes.
