Process improvement engineers are in charge of identifying and developing procedural changes for their organization using engineering techniques. They perform functions relating to production design, manufacturing, and construction, and one of their main responsibilities includes collaborating with other engineers to find quality and efficiency issues during the production process. Process improvement engineers also participate in meetings to make recommendations on changes to improve efficiency and quality. They execute process improvement processes, perform root cause analysis, and create detailed reports about improvement issues.These engineers must conduct regular quality assurance reviews and ensure compliance with industry and company standards in all tasks. They also review the qualifications of potential suppliers, coordinate quality initiatives, and represent their department at external meetings and regulatory agencies. Process improvement engineers perform supplier audits, manage the quality management system, resolve operational variances, and conduct trend analysis. In all tasks, these engineers must follow strict contract requirements and procedures.A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required for this job. In addition, previous experience in a process improvement and/or quality assurance capacity - as well as industry certifications - may be preferred. Process improvement engineers must possess excellent communication skills to interact with partners and suppliers, including in facilitating corrective measures as necessary. They should have working experience with engineering and manufacturing concepts and be able to operate production machinery.
