Description

A technical sales representative works as a liason between a company's regional sales manager/acquisition manager and clients. The technical sales representative assists the regional sales manager in generating market development plans, which means the representative must be familiar with the products the company currently offers and the client's opinions of those products. In assisting clients with questions about the product, the technical sales representative listens to what features are most important to the clients; they also examine similar products that exist in the field and rival companies' products. They present findings to the regional sales manager, detailling what new products should be offered and how to sell those products in a competitive marketplace. Upon approval from the regional sales manager, the technical sales representative works with the acquisitions manager to procure new products and help develop literature to support the sales of these new products.Technical sales representatives work in many industries. They work in an office environment, although a large portion of time is spent traveling. Most firms require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field due to the potentially technical nature of the position.
