Description

Non-profit organization (NPO) program administrators serve a middle management position in organizing and leading teams in various functions such as collecting donations, planning fundraisers, planning and completing missions and various other functions that NPO's perform. They usually report to program managers, and they usually work a standard Monday through Friday work week in an office environment. Since they work hands-on with their company's events and functions, they may also work after hours or on weekends during a program event. NPO program administrators are usually involved in the staffing of their teams as well, so they are usually involved in the interviewing, hiring and training of the employees they oversee. In addition, they handle a great deal of paperwork--from program financial reports to client records--so they must have a keen eye for detail and a strong proficiency with computers and necessary word processing, spreadsheet and accounting programs. They must also have a degree in business or a related field. Most employers also want their program administrators to have several years of work experience with NPO's or similar experience in the for-profit sector.
