The stress analyst is responsible for developing thermal analytical models to support the design of the thermal control system and its structural elements. They are responsible for gauging stress and giving their team the information and analysis it needs to move forward. An ideal candidate for this position has a strong working knowledge of standard stress analysis methodology and analytical tools (including strength and fracture mechanics) and experience in design verification disciplines. Stress analysts should also be experienced in designing and developing plumbing and tubing design, as well as have extensive familiarity with stress analysis tools and techniques for thermal fluid delivery systems. They need to work well under pressure and deliver results promptly and efficiently.Generally, stress analysts must have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a graduate degree often strongly desired. At least four years of relevant experience is generally required as well. Stress analysts should have strong written and verbal communication, be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people at various levels of their organization, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Stress analysts must pay close attention to detail and be able to multitask as well.
