A clinical specialist must be ready for on-call duties that may require the employee to work 24/7 when needed. It is also recommended that a clinical specialist possess at least three years of experience relevant to the clinical specialty field, which may be acquired in college or on the job. At least a bachelor’s degree in a related field is usually required.
